These are standard 16:9 image dimensions. The complete frame is wider and taller, so leave installation clearance around the image.
Choose 100″ when
- Wall width is limited or you need room for speakers beside the screen.
- Your front seats are relatively close.
- The projector has limited light output and you want to preserve image brightness.
- You want easier alignment and a less visually dominant screen.
Choose 120″ when
- You have enough wall width and can sit far enough back for comfortable viewing.
- Your projector can fill 120″ from its available throw position.
- The larger cinematic effect matters more than leaving extra wall space.
- You have enough light output for the larger surface area.
UST buyers: check furniture height and throw geometry
For ultra-short throw projectors, a larger image often changes the projector-to-screen spacing and the required image height. That can push the screen higher on the wall or require a lower media console. Use the projector manufacturer’s placement chart before drilling.
