The first question is room light
In a dark or strongly light-controlled room, a compatible matte-white fixed frame can be a sensible, simple solution. In a bright living room, a UST-specific CLR/ALR screen is often the more relevant category because it is designed to favor projector light arriving from the UST direction while rejecting some room light.
Flatness matters more with UST
A small wave in the screen can become a visible geometry error when light arrives at a steep angle. This is one reason fixed frames and well-tensioned tab-tensioned screens are common UST choices.
Do not ignore cabinet height
The projector’s distance from the wall, lens height and image size all interact. A 120″ image can require a very different furniture arrangement from a 100″ image. Use your projector’s placement chart before choosing final screen height.
